Dear Elliott Smith,

Let me start with your very first album made public on 1994, the Roman Candle album, the obvious beauty of the song No Name #3  "watched the dying day, blushing in the sky, everyone is uptight, so come on night, everyone is gone... home to oblivion~ home to oblivion~

Then there was your self-titled album Elliott Smith that released in the year of 1995, my favorite from this album is Clementine. Then comes this song that makes me feel truly complicated for its simple as it is, a song that to me is the epitome of perfect: The Biggest Lie.

Finally, the album that introduced me to you, with songs that are so sickeningly beautiful, a heart-shatteringly awesome album: Either/Or. I felt like its a gift of my very existence on earth since it was released in the year I was born: 1997. Speed Trials, Ballad of Big Nothing, Alameda, No Name No. 5, Rose Parade, Cupids Trick, Punch and Judy, Pictures of Me, Angeles, 2:45 AM, Say Yes and Between The Bars. THESE SONGS ARE SO GOOD THEY MAKE ME CRY.

"I'm in love with the world through the eyes of a girl..."
"its just a brief smile crossing your face, I'm running speed trials standing in place"
"I'm damaged but at best..."
"nobody broke your heart, you broke your own cause you can't finish what you start"
"you can do what you want to there's no one to stop you"
"I'm not surprised at all and really, why should I be?"
"got a broken heart and your name on my cast, and everybody's gone at last, everybody's gone at last"
"won't you follow me down to the rose parade?"
"they don't read page to page or speak easy, now they're gonna say the words in the wrong order again"
"no one's gonna fool around with us, so glad to meet you angeles"
"if you're gonna say shit now you'll do it out loud its 2:45 in the morning"

"drink up baby, look at the stars, I'll kiss you again between the bars, where I'm seeing you there with your hands in the air waiting to finally be caught, drink up one more time and I'll make you mine, keep you apart, deep in my heart, separate from the rest where I like you the best and keep the things you forgot... the people you've been before but you don't want around anymore that push and shove and won't bend to your will... I'll keep them still.

Either/Or is definitely my favorite album from Elliott Smith. but he also released some other awesome albums like, XO (1998). my most-listened-to songs from the album are Sweet Adeline and Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands. while my favorite songs from Elliott Smith's album Figure 8 (2000) are Everything Means Nothing To Me, Happiness and I Better Be Quiet Now. I also love the song Miss Misery and the Fond Farewell but I couldn't fathom from which album they came from.

Its such a saddening fact that Mr. Elliott Smith death happened too soon, I have always wanted to hear your music, the old and new.  I guess the old will just do... Rest In Peace, Elliott Smith, you are missed. Thank you.
